​Junior SPL High Performance Football Camp 

Football Camp Day 1: Training, Teamwork & Trivia

First day of camp was packed with focused training sessions and valuable skill development for both our boys' and girls' teams!

⚽ Boys' Training:
🔹 Worked on a structured build-up from the back
🔹 Refined their defensive structure

⚽ Girls' Training:
🔹 Focused on switching play and individual technical skills
🔹 Practiced turning, opening their body, and receiving the ball in different directions
🔹 Worked on a structured build-up from the back

After an intense day on the field, the teams enjoyed a recovery session in the pool, followed by a workshop to review the day's training. The evening wrapped up with a fun football trivia challenge—a great way to end the day on a high note!

Football Camp Day 2

Despite 120mm of rain at Runaway Bay on Thursday, our players showed determination and resilience, making the most of every training opportunity!

🌟 The day kicked off with:
⚡ A speed and agility session, testing quick footwork and reaction time

⚽ Boys' Training:
🔹 Focused on defensive midfield structure
🔹 Practiced switching play

⚽ Girls' Training:
🔹 Worked on receiving skills under pressure
🔹 Sharpened their ability to handle 1v1 and 2v2 situations

💪 Pushing Through the Rain!
Sessions continued in between showers, ensuring players maximized their development. The day wrapped up with a session breakdown and some friendly competition in basketball, volleyball, and gridiron.

Another fantastic day of growth, teamwork, and perseverance—well done to all our athletes!

Football Camp Day 3 – Game Day

Our teams wrapped up Football Camp with an exciting match day at Brendale Sporting Complex, proving that not even wet conditions could dampen their spirits!

⚽ Girls’ Match:
A hard-fought battle ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw, with outstanding teamwork and determination on display.

⚽ Boys’ Match:
The Yellow team claimed a 5-3 victory, demonstrating strong attacking play and defensive resilience.

A fantastic end to camp, with both teams showcasing the skills and strategies they’ve developed over the past few days. Well done to all players! 👏⚽🔥​​​​

Football Excellence Update 2025 – Round 1 Schools Premier League

Last Friday, 21 February, Albany Creek SHS hosted Southport SHS for Round 1 of the Schools Premier League (SPL). With our Junior SPL squads fresh off their Football Excellence Camp, both players and coaches were eager to see their hard work put to the test. The Intermediate Boys were also keen to start their season on a high note.

Intermediate Boys – AC 5 🆚 Southport SHS 1 – Win

The Senior Girls created plenty of chances but, due to injuries and absences, had to field four Year 8 players to step up to the challenge.

On Friday 16 February, Football Excellence students travelled to Nissan Arena, under the guidance of Mr Swadling and Mr Nicholson, to compete in the round 1 Fixtures for QSF Schools Futsal League 2024.

The SFL takes place across 4 conferences made up of 10 school teams from across SE Queensland. Albany Creek SHS compete in the Northern Conference. Under 16 fixtures take place in semester 1 and under 14 fixtures in semester 2.
